“They tell us that it’s dangerous. That it’s poisonous enough to kill a man 10 times over. That there’s enough poison in its tail alone to melt your insides into goo and your outsides into more goo. I don’t think that’s how poison works. They tell us to stay away, that they’ll handle it. They tell us not to worry, as they ready their big gun-shaped Humane Animal Control Apparatus that definitely did not blow that rabbit into 13 different pieces, no sir. That must’ve been a particularly strong wind, they say. But the big lizard will take more than a strong wind. Good for it. The big lizard seems scary, with all its poison and warts and grumpy scary face that also kind of looks like its butt, and its really much too hard to tell its face from its tail anyways, both ends of it look very upset and its really no wonder people are so scared of it anyhow. But all it does is sit there and rest in the sun. Sometimes it’ll reposition itself, or wave its tail around, or gulp up a rather clumsy spider that thought it could tumble by safely, but otherwise, it just sits and looks generally displeased. Though it does not seem displeased. It actually seems quite content, with all of its friends there on its back, a big friendly dogpile. When they come in to humanely blow it to bits, I hope they see that dogpile and decide that maybe the wind will be particularly strong in some other direction, somewhere far away from here.”
