The Slime-n-Dine! The Shadowfell (8)

The party's next job is actually a sandwich run! They're tasked with heading to Gloomwrought, the capitol of the Shadowfell, to gather all the necessary ingredients for the Baleful BLT. The sandwich consists of 5 parts: Bread, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Sauce. Slime's old supplier, the Thin Reaper, also lives somewhere in the city, so checking up on her would be much appreciated as well.

The Shadowfell is a cold, lonely place, where the souls of the undead are just as likely to be harassed by desperate demons with hastily-written up contracts looking to fill their soul-quota as they are to be carried off by the Ferrymen.

The Deadman greets you no matter where you are, and your destination is always in the direction of his sign, no matter what. Ominous...

And when you enter the city, you're met with a neverending Fiesta of cheerful bones! This is the Dry Quarter of Gloomwrought, where the skeletons live. They offer you knowledge of where to get your lettuce: The Bibb of Yellow Bile grows in the Grangeyard (this campaign's first mini-dungeon), but is guarded by a powerful lich known as...

THE NECRORANCHER. However, he's fast asleep when you do finally reach him, and you're instead accosted by his farm animals. When the battle's over, he finally wakes and is rather friendly! He gives you your ingredient with no trouble, and even points you over to the next nearest corner, the Warm Quarter.

THE BIBB OF YELLOW BILE

On your way to the Warm Quarter, you run into a familiar green tent... It's Mountebank and Flim-Flam, blending into the locale! Their services are the same, but their selection of items it nicely themed. How spooky!

They also provide you with a map, free of charge! This is where our story comes to an end, but the campaign is far from over! Just as a little extra, I'll tell you that the Drowned Quarter (RP heavy!) is home to ghosts and spirits, and houses the tomato you need (the Flamenco of Phlegm), but is guarded by The Washroom Wraith, an emotional girl who is beloved by the ghosts but is embarrassed by her toilet-related death. The Wintry Quarter is home to ghouls, skinwalkers, and the like, and is where you obtain your bacon (Black Bile Bacon). The vampire Lord of the Quarter, a mosquito-like character with flea henchmen named the Bloodsucking Baron, would happily give it up to you, if only his hogs (the hampires) hadn't been taken by... The Swinedigo.

Finally, we have the Warm Quarter, an Ancient-Egypt-styled area home to zombies and mummies, and housing your bread, the Blood Brioche. The sovereign here is the Canopic Queen, waited on by undead simians (zomboons) and housed in a complex tomb. This Quarter would be very puzzle-focused, with a run-in with 3 new Sphinxes and a Canopic Jar puzzle of matching jars with the correct types of bread. A little taste: “Welcome to the tomb of rot, Of Mother Wurm, of na’an and ka’ak, A temple filled with pain and pain, Where dead give rise to life again, To speak with her, the jars must fill, With precise bread and dough and mill, Be wary, don’t mix rice with rye, Lest this become the place you die, Worms and soup and souls and dead, Are ferried here in bowls of bread.”

And after you get bread from her, you're off to meet the Thin Reaper for your mayo, who has declared herself God of the Shadowfell after dethroning the Stillborn Deity which hadn't given up much of a fight, to be perfectly honest...

And that's as far as we got! There's more, obviously, but I'll just have to wait until I find another group willing to run it, I suppose.
